He wasn’t that much of a villain or a murderer! Unless that part of the story was not well developed. I really like how the author incorporated the element of depression into the storyline. Karinne was certainly a sympathetic character in that respect. Baster was definitely more understanding than I would expect him to be since the title calls him a murderer. Wish there was a little more push and pull, and the paulsen girl and the traitor could have been utilized to drag the story out a little more.
